Elizabeth

Dear Mrs. White,

We have been receiving your email updates for a few years now and I wanted to thank you for the work you have done for children. As my children have grown, I have consciously made choices about their playtime, the types of toys they play with and the programs they watch. Your lists and reviews have helped me keep the focus on peaceful, educational and joyful fun.

We live in a small rural community where many people feel their children are sheltered from violence, and they are to some extent. But when the violent ideology comes through television, computer and video games and innocent looking toys, right into our homes, we have unknowingly put our children at risk. Many times I have had to restrict playdates because there are toys or games at a friend’s house that I don’t allow for my children. Alanne and Mathen have grown up without the toys and games that I felt made children “aggressive.” When I see my daughter carefully redirect here younger friend’s smashing and crashing to building and creating, or my son help his friend have adventures instead of battles I hope the message has hit home.

I am very proud of my daughter this year in choosing to support your project. It has made me realize that I must not only protect my children by also try to spread the message to others. I had already made the decision to create a mural at the children’s school, partly due to 9-11, we decided on the theme “visions of peace.” Now I will take this opportunity to share the information from Lion & Lamb.

 Sincerely,

 Elizabeth (Alanne's mom)
